Position: PATIENT ACCESS SPECIALIST- ADMISSIONS SCHEDULING

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Preregisters patients in the JMH computer system and obtains requested information/data including pre-cert. Obtains accurate documentation to allow for timely and accurate billing to third‑party payors and patients. Audits, corrects, and reports registration inaccuracies on inpatient/observation/out‑patient surgery registrations. Answers telephone call requests from customers, including medical staff, office staff, patients, and departments utilizing the scheduling module.

Reviews inpatient/observation/outpatient ancillary for prior authorizations, pre‑certification and benefits verifications. Enters information into the JMH computer system. Scans verification sheets, PA referrals, pre‑cert and other referrals received from insurance companies and physician offices. Calls the patient to verify or obtain demographic information including insurance information. Completes registration packet with all needed information (registration forms, provider orders, labels, and HIPAA revalidation forms, etc.).

Enter information from the pre‑registration folders and scans needed information into the system that is returned from the departments.

Provides coverage for surgery registration desk and registration area as assigned by Lead Registrar or Supervisor.

Works closely with the admissions, case management, and patient accounts staff. Coordinates with interdisciplinary departments to ensure patient is scheduled in a timely fashion and no overlap of service. Coordinates necessary services with pre‑testing area (i.e., directions prior to upper GI scheduling, etc.).

Attends education seminars to enhance knowledge.

Performs related miscellaneous duties as assigned by supervisor.

Clearly communicates and continuously supports the mission and values of Johnson Memorial Health.

Conducts all activities in compliance with applicable laws, regulations, standards, and JMH policies and procedures including blood and body substance precautions.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING

Must have high school diploma or equivalent. Previous CRT experience preferred. Previous experience in hospital admitting department preferred but not required.

SCHEDULE

Monday‑Friday; 8 am‑4:30 pm.
80 hours per two‑week pay period.
