Job Responsibilities
- Preregisters patients in the JMH computer system and obtains requested information/data, including pre-certifications.
- Obtains accurate documentation to allow for timely and accurate billing to third‑party payors and patients.
- Audits, corrects, and reports registration inaccuracies on inpatient/observation/out‑patient surgery registrations.
- Answers telephone call requests from customers, including medical staff, medical office staff, patients, and departments utilizing the scheduling module.
- Reviews ancillary registrations for prior authorizations, pre‑certification, and benefits verifications.
- Enters information into the JMH computer system and scans verification sheets, PA referrals, pre‑certifications and other referrals received from insurance companies and physician offices.
- Calls the patient to verify or obtain demographic information, including insurance details.
- Completes registration packets with all needed information (registration forms, provider orders, labels, HIPAA re‑validation forms, etc.).
- Provides coverage for the surgery registration desk and registration area as assigned by the Lead Registrar or Supervisor.
- Works closely with Admissions, Case Management, and Patient Accounts staff to coordinate services and ensure patients are scheduled in a timely manner without overlap of services.
- Coordinates necessary services with the pre‑testing area (e.g., directions prior to upper GI scheduling).
- Attends educational seminars to enhance knowledge.
- Performs additional miscellaneous duties as assigned by the supervisor.
- Communicates clearly and consistently supports the Mission and Values of Johnson Memorial Health.
- Conducts all activities in compliance with applicable laws, regulations, standards, and JMH policies and procedures, including Blood and Body Substance Precautions.
Must have a high school diploma or equivalent. Previous CRT experience preferred. Previous experience in a hospital admitting department preferred but not required.
ScheduleMonday‑Thursday: 8 am to 4:30 pm with a 30‑minute lunch break.
Friday: 8 am to noon, no lunch. Total 72 hours per two‑week pay period.
