Med-Surg Unit Overview Scheduling: NO block scheduling requests. Shifts are 6a–6:30p / 6p–6:30a. Weekend rotation required (4 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule). Unit Size & Ratios: 34 beds | Ratios:
Days 1:5, Nights 1:6. Certifications

Required:

BLS, NIHSS. Patient Population: PNA, COPD, CHF, ortho (hips/knees/shoulders), appy, chole, diverticulitis, bowel resection, pancreatitis.

Required Experience:

MS / PCU / Tele or CCU experience. No drip titration required;
Heparin per protocol only. Support Staff & Monitoring: PCTs on days/nights (1:12 max). Remote telemetry; monitor tech interprets—MS RNs do not read strips. Chronic CPAP/BiPAP only. Floating & Orientation:
Float within MS scope only. Orientation includes 1 clinical education shift + 2 unit preceptor shifts. Navy blue scrubs required.
