OverviewThe Transportation Management Senior Account Manager is responsible for the operational execution for one or many pieces of business. This position includes the management of people, process, organic growth, and customer satisfaction.
Responsibilities- Daily operational point‑of‑contact for internal NFI divisions and clients
- Provides guidance and training to TM Coordinators, Planners, Team Planning Leads & Account Managers
- Builds and maintains strong, positive relationships with vendors to ensure consistent and cost‑effective procurement of transportation services
- Monitors and evaluates vendor performance against key performance indicators (KPIs), ensuring service and cost efficiency
- Primary point of contact for all vendor‑related communications and issues, working proactively to resolve problems
- Manages transportation of temperature‑sensitive goods using refrigerated (reefer) equipment across all modes of transportation
- Ensures compliance with temperature‑controlled requirements throughout a shipment’s lifecycle
- Project‑manages new implementations and continuous improvement exercises for key customers
- Manages customer and carrier aging
- Identifies and implements continuous improvement strategies that enhance internal and external operations
- Executes operations based on contract language with a focus on KPIs and service level agreements
- Manages a team of TM coordinators and facilitates daily operational activities to service customers
- Creates and implements custom operational procedures for individual customers, covering daily shipment activity, route guides, exception management, appointment scheduling, tracking initiatives, carrier procurement, spot‑market management, and shipment optimization
- Manages carrier compliance and creates accountability for service expectations
- Consults and offers best practices through extensive knowledge of the supply chain market and the customer’s network
- Identifies opportunities to connect customers to other NFI divisions to improve their network and drive revenue across the organization
- Conducts quarterly business reviews (Q ) with customers through various presentation methodologies
- Collaborates with the TM director of operations to create and manage internal/external SOP documentation
- Works with TM Engineering to identify optimization opportunities, quantify value, and implement adjustments
- Recognizes opportunities and works to organically grow existing business
- Gains familiarity with NFI departments such as Carrier Relations, Freight Audit/Payment, and Invoicing
- BA or BS degree required
- 5+ years transportation‑related industry experience with demonstrated acumen
- Ability to facilitate responsibilities and manage expectations
- Becomes a TMS super user with the ability to train other operators
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong problem‑solving skills and decision‑making ability
- Strong attention to detail with excellent follow‑up skills
- High level of business acumen and leadership qualities
- Professional aptitude, presentation, and demeanor
- Ability to meet/exceed time‑sensitive deadlines
- Multitasking ability

- Professional interaction with all levels of internal/external management
- Availability to work flexible hours and travel based on NFI and external client needs
- Proficient with MS Applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Commitment to strengthening existing skills and acquiring new skills as required by client or department demands
- In‑depth knowledge of TMS programs used for brokerage services
- Commitment to sharpening existing or acquiring new skills to meet business or customer demands
Base salary range: $90,000 – $120,000. Eligible for an annual discretionary bonus, targeted at 5%. Salary decisions are based on qualifications, experience, education, and geographic location.
