The Mobile Equipment Technician is responsible for all preventative, predictive, and repair maintenance duties for the plant's mobile equipment. The incumbent works independently and with vendors and internal customers to ensure equipment longevity, which is critical to plant success. Please note this is a night shift position, Monday-Friday.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform all preventative and predictive maintenance and equipment repairs on all mobile equipment according to company expectations and manufacturer specifications to ensure equipment is properly serviced to achieve its proper lifespan.
• Review all equipment inspections daily, prioritizing items that need addressed according to department standards and manufacturer specifications to ensure that issues are resolved in a timely manner.
• Develop and maintain a spare parts warehouse to ensure all crucial parts and components, including consumables, are on hand at a moment’s notice.
• Report deviations, out of service, or non-conforming equipment based on departmental procedures in order for the management team to make appropriate corrections or adjustments to processes.
• Comply with all safety rules, company practices/procedures and participate in safe work practices, as outlined by the company and government regulations to facilitate a safe working environment.
• Gather breakdown feedback and then explain expected scheduled downtime and estimated completion times to operators. Inform management regarding needed parts, expected completion times, and troubleshooting processes. With vendors, exchange information regarding troubleshooting and current needs and issues.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• HS diploma or equivalent required; post-secondary education or equivalent experience preferred.
• Mechanical ability with two years of experience working on heavy equipment.
• Ability to personally furnish tools to perform standard tasks.
• Solid understanding of all aspects of light and heavy mobile equipment maintenance; preferred skills include ability to rebuild motors, pumps, cylinders, and electrical systems.
• Math and blueprint reading.
• Adaptable to changing priorities.
• Working knowledge of PCs, diagnostic tools, and CMMS.

Physical and Sensory Efforts

• Frequent lifting up to 50 pounds.
• Frequent use of forklift.
• Physical demands include frequent lifting, bending, pushing, pulling, walking, stooping, and reaching into and/or working in tight areas.
• Frequent visual and audio monitoring of equipment operations.
• Frequent climbing on equipment over four feet in height.
• Frequent working under heavy equipment.

Working Conditions

• Exposure to outside conditions year-round.
• Work environment is generally covered but not insulated.
• Low frequency of working in inclement weather when equipment breaks down outside.
• May include exposure to areas inside the plant where temperatures can be extreme.
