About St. Mary’s:
St. Mary Catholic Church is a vibrant and faith-filled parish located in Franklin, MA. We are seeking a talented and dedicated Director of Music Ministry to lead and grow our music program in support of the liturgical and spiritual life of our parish community.
Position Summary:
The Director of Music Ministry is responsible for planning, coordinating, and providing music for all liturgical celebrations y’s. This includes two regular weekend Masses, holy days, sacramental celebrations, seasonal liturgies, and other special parish events. The ideal candidate is a skilled musician, strong leader, and enthusiastic collaborator with a passion for Catholic liturgical music.
- Provide music for 2 weekend Masses
- Lead music for all Holy Days of Obligation and liturgical seasons (e.g., Christmas, Holy Week)
- Coordinate and provide music for:
- 2 Confirmation Masses
- 3-4 First Communion Masses
- Thanksgiving (1 Mass)
- Parish Missions, Prayer Services, Mini-Retreats (as announced)
- Lead 1-2 weekly choir rehearsals (September–June)
- Recruit, train, and support Cantors
- Encourage participation in continuing formation (e.g., workshops)
- Program Administration
- Plan and schedule music and musicians for all liturgies
- Maintain the parish music library
- Maintain parish instruments (organ, piano, etc.)
- Collaborate with staff and attend regular staff meetings
- Assist with annual Wedding Music Presentation
- Be available to provide music for Weddings and Funerals (compensated separately)
- Proficiency in organ and/or piano, with strong vocal ability
- Experience in leading Catholic liturgical music
- Familiarity with Catholic liturgical norms, seasons, and traditions
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Ability to work collaboratively with clergy, staff, and volunteers
- Must complete all Archdiocesan requirements, including Protecting God’s Children
- Degree in Music, Sacred Music, or a related field
- Experience working in a parish setting
- Choral conducting experience
This is a Full-time position with flexible scheduling and additional stipends for weddings and funerals. Compensation commensurate with experience.
