The Regional Growth Leader (RGL) plays a central role in advancing the East Region’s growth agenda. This position leads our regional seller-doers in setting and achieving growth objectives, developing internal and external business development strategies, and ensuring strong, consistent regional business development performance. The RGL works in close partnership with the Marketing team, the Regional Operations Manager, and senior seller-doers to align priorities, strengthen our market presence, and position the region for long-term success.
In addition to shaping regional strategies, the RGL supports the implementation of GEI’s overall strategic growth plan by coordinating with partners across the company. This role also provides key input on client development, evaluates growth opportunities, and participates in proposal Go/No-Go recommendations to help maintain a disciplined and focused approach to pursuing work.
The Regional Growth Leader is appointed by the Chief Development Officer, in collaboration with the Chief Executive Officer and the Director of Operations and reports directly to the CDO. This is a highly visible leadership position designed to sharpen our growth discipline and elevate the region’s overall performance.
The RGL will operate within the framework of the following company-wide programs:
- Key Accounts Program
- Strategic Wins
- Critical Hires
- Regional/Company Initiative Action Plans (IAPs)
- Leads the development of regional strategic pursuit capture plans and regional growth initiatives in collaboration with the Regional Operations Manager (ROM) and seller doers to achieve regional growth goals.
- Actively identifies opportunities for both organic and acquisitive growth.
- Actively recruits critical hires to support regional IAPs and growth into complimentary practice areas as identified in the strategic growth plan.
- Identifies areas for future growth based on knowledge of available funding for existing and potential clients.
- Responsible for the successful implementation of regional key client and initiative actions plans.
- Responsible for maintaining backlog at or above budget.
- Reviews performance in collaboration with the ROM, of priority IAPs and key accounts. Leads growth initiative leaders and develops action plans in collaboration with ROM to address implementation obstacles and issues.
- Active participant in at least one outside industry organization, preferably a national organization with membership comprised of other senior leaders.
- Active participant and the face of GEI in community and civic events and professional industry conferences to promote GEI as a trusted partner.
- Demonstrated success in business development, client management, or seller-doer roles within GEI or the broader AEC industry.
- Strong understanding of the East Region’s markets, clients, competitive dynamics, and strategic opportunities.
- Proven ability to build, lead, and influence cross-functional teams, particularly among seller-doers and technical leaders.
- Experience developing and executing business development strategies, pursuit plans, or growth initiatives.
- Ability to evaluate client and project opportunities, including participation in Go/No-Go decision making.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to engage effectively with internal teams and external clients.
- Demonstrated organizational discipline, including the ability to track progress, monitor performance, and drive accountability.
- Experience partnering with marketing or proposal teams to support strategic pursuits.
- A track record of contributing to regional or company-level initiatives that advance growth, operational excellence, or client engagement.
- Ability to travel within the region as needed to support client development and internal coordination.
- B.S. /M.S. in field of specialty
