Maintenance Electrician 2nd Shift

Shift: 2nd shift, Monday to Friday, 3:00 pm to 11:30 pm.

  Purpose:
  
  Perform electrical maintenance tasks on plant utility and process infrastructure. Install and repair electrical systems and machinery components following electrical code, manuals, schematic diagrams, blueprints, and specifications.
• Work with limited supervision. Act as informal resource for less experienced colleagues.

• Program, troubleshoot, and operate programmable controllers, distributive control, and interlocking systems.
• Install equipment for new electrical services (120 v, 240 v, and 480 v, three phases), including wiring, conduit, panels, breakers, contractors, relays, times, and controls.
• Perform work on-site automation systems to component level, including 0‑10‑v and 4‑20 mA signal repairs.
• Perform electrical troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair; install or replace circuit breakers, fuses, and variable speed drives.
• Work on electrical equipment such as VFDs, contractors, overload devices, fixtures, switches, receptacles, and wiring.
• Read and interpret technical procedures, electrical schematics, service manuals, and work orders.
• Perform preventive maintenance on equipment, distribution systems, motor control centers, and motors.
• Assist operators with training or troubleshooting to minimize downtime.
• Maintain communication with other departments, management, and employees, notifying them of issues that may restrict production efficiency.
• Stay current on new products, equipment, technology, and techniques.
• Apply continuous improvement mindset to identify opportunities for process improvement.
• Anticipate parts requirements, follow purchasing procedures, and acquire parts as needed.
• Perform and assist in all operations maintenance activities in accordance with national, state, and local electrical codes.
• Use a computerized maintenance management system (e.g., SAP) to record and access maintenance-related information.
• Maintain safe working conditions and compliance with health and safety regulations.
• Follow DFA GMP and all corporate regulatory, food safety, quality, and sanitation requirements.
• Other duties may be assigned as required.

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Graduation from trade or technical school in related discipline preferred.
• 2 to 4 years of electrical maintenance experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment, and automation system maintenance experience.
• Electrician journeyman license or other location‑specific license; master electrician preferred.

• Thorough knowledge of electrical codes, practices, techniques, tools, and equipment.
• Knowledge of national, state, local building codes, OSHA, and industry safety rules/regulations pertaining to electrical work.
• Able to use standard hand and power tools, ladders, and scaffolding safely.
• Capable of working from sketches, drawings, and blueprints.
• Ability to inspect equipment, recognize potential problems, and take corrective action to prevent failures or downtime.
• Can perform electrical activities/repairs independently and assist on more complicated repairs.
• Can complete minor to mid‑size projects from planning to installation.
• Can present options and ideas to improve processes or procedures.
• Can perform tasks and duties without constant supervision.
• Works effectively in a team environment.
• Communicates clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing.
• Has basic math skills: addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, decimals, and different units of measure.
• Basic computer skills.
• Proficient in reading, writing, and speaking English.
