Fabrication Facility Technician – Facilities & Improvements
Job Summary
The Fabrication Facility Technician is responsible for maintaining and improving the physical infrastructure of the fabrication facility. This includes performing building upgrades, painting floors, coordinating minor construction projects, and ensuring the facility remains clean, safe, and operational. The ideal candidate is hands‑on, detail-oriented, and capable of working independently on a variety of facility‑related tasks.
Key Responsibilities- Perform facility improvement projects such as floor painting, wall repairs, lighting upgrades, and workspace reconfigurations.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the fabrication floor, storage areas, and common spaces.
- Assist with layout changes, including moving equipment, setting up workstations, and installing safety barriers or signage.
- Conduct routine inspections of the facility to identify maintenance needs and safety hazards.
- Coordinate with external contractors for specialized work (e.g., electrical, HVAC, plumbing) as needed.
- Maintain tools, supplies, and materials inventory related to facility upkeep.
- Follow all safety protocols and ensure compliance with OSHA and company standards.
- Support special projects and continuous improvement initiatives as directed by leadership.
- High school diploma or GED required; vocational training in facilities maintenance or construction preferred.
- 2+ years of experience in facility maintenance, general construction, or industrial painting.
- Familiarity with industrial floor coatings, basic carpentry, and light electrical work.
- Ability to operate hand and power tools safely and effectively.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks.
- Comfortable working independently and taking initiative.
- Ability to lift 50+ lbs and work in various physical conditions (standing, bending, climbing ladders).
- Experience in a manufacturing or fabrication environment.
- Forklift certification or willingness to obtain.
- Basic knowledge of lean manufacturing or 5S principles.
- Ability to read facility layouts or blueprints.
