Responsible for all activities associated with safely operating and caring for the forklift. Ensure work in progress (WIP) is undamaged, maintain an organized staging area, and consistently deliver correct size and board grade stacks to machine centers for processing.
Duties and Responsibilities- Operate and care for the forklift in a safe manner; must be qualified to properly operate the forklift.
- Complete and document a forklift inspection form before the start of shift and when operating a new forklift, and submit maintenance work orders to supervision for required repairs.
- Locate stock before the start of the run.
- Deliver appropriate stock to machines safely and on time.
- Remove finished goods from machines.
- Maintain neat, orderly, and safe stacks of stock in storage areas.
- Complete necessary paperwork accurately and timely.
- Maintain accurate location of stock in storage area by paperwork and computer.
- Maximize equipment utilization by operating machinery at available capacity and speed.
- Adhere to the daily production schedule.
- Assist other forklift operators as necessary and be backup to the Shipping Lead Person.
- Complete necessary reports accurately and timely, including Production Data, Machine Operational Status, Safety Data, and Quality Data.
- Comply with all company policies and procedures, including safety and housekeeping.
- Perform additional duties assigned by management.
High school diploma or GED required; preferred.
Preferred Candidates- Prior work experience in the corrugated industry.
- Prior work experience as a forklift operator.
A current Lift Truck/Clamp Truck Operator License is required.
A possibility of receiving in‑house certification after passing the Lift Operator Exam.
Regularly required to stand, walk, and talk or hear. Frequently use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Must sit for long periods and regularly lift/move up to 50 pounds and occasionally up to 100 pounds.
Work EnvironmentRegular exposure to moving mechanical parts, hot/humid and cold conditions, fumes, airborne particles, vibrations, loud environments, and a high‑pace atmosphere.
