The High School Pastor leads the High School Ministry at Church of the City’s Franklin campus. This role provides direction, leadership, and care for high school students, their families, and the volunteer team. This position oversees weekly programming, events, volunteer development, and pastoral support for students, creating a space where they can grow in faith, community, and purpose. The ideal candidate is both relational and strategic: someone who can teach and mentor students while leading teams and systems that support a growing ministry.
This role has a schedule of Sunday - Thursday with Wednesday evenings being required.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities (other duties may be assigned)Ministry Leadership and Programming
- Provide overall leadership and direction for the High School Ministry at COTC Franklin.
- Develop and implement a strategy for student engagement, discipleship, and leadership development.
- Plan and execute weekly gatherings and small group environments that are creative, relevant, and spiritually formative.
- Lead the development of teaching content and ensure it aligns with the COTC’s vision and values.
- Oversee major events such as The WKND, summer camp, and retreats while ensuring each experience is organized, safe, and impactful.
- Collaborate with the City Students Pastor and Team to maintain unity and alignment in ministry strategy.
- Lead the High School Student Leadership Team on Sundays, which leads, serves, and provides support to the ministry.
- Recruit, train, and empower the volunteer team to lead small groups, events, and serve in key ministry roles.
- Execute clear systems for volunteer onboarding, training, communication, and appreciation.
- Foster a team culture marked by collaboration, accountability, and encouragement.
- Build genuine relationships with students, providing spiritual guidance, support, and mentorship.
- Create a safe, welcoming environment where students feel seen, valued, and connected.
- Partner with parents to equip and encourage them as the primary spiritual influence in their student’s life.
- Communicate consistently with parents about upcoming events, opportunities, and resources.
- Manage administrative responsibilities including scheduling, communication, volunteer coordination, and event planning.
- Maintain accurate records of students, volunteers, and event participation.
- Support budget management and ensure responsible use of ministry resources.
Required Competencies and General
Skills:
A successful candidate possesses competency and demonstrated experience in effective communication, emotional intelligence and conflict resolution. Must possess general computer skills, including proficiency with Google Suite. Maintains confidentiality and demonstrates strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail. Capable of adhering to deadlines, managing multiple diverse assignments, and executing tasks effectively. Exhibits practical time management skills and works well in team settings.
Demonstrates innovation by suggesting improvements within the scope of work, anticipating needs, and creating efficient, effective processes. Self-motivated, takes ownership of tasks, and shows flexibility and adaptability in dynamic situations. Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build trust and connection across generations. Flexible, collaborative, and comfortable working in a fast-paced team environment.
Church of the City employees are required to become a Stakeholder of the church within the first 6 months of employment and agree to the beliefs, standards and responsibilities outlined in the Stakeholder Agreement .
QualificationsA Christian in submission to the authority of the Scriptures and the Holy Spirit, as evident in lifestyle. Subscribes to and is in complete agreement with the Church of the City’s Statement of Faith. Represents and upholds Church of the City’s mission, vision, and culture by demonstrating a strong work ethic, positive attitude, and learning posture. The incumbent is willing to become a stakeholder of COTC within six months of hire.

EducationA High School Level education, or its equivalent required; baccalaureate degree is preferred.
ExperienceA satisfactory equivalent of education, training, and experience in related fields and/or educational disciplines, sufficient to qualify for the position’s requirements.
