The Electrical Engineer - R&D will contribute to the design, integration, and testing of complex medical devices and subsystems that combine electronics, optics, fluidics, and embedded control. Working closely with a Senior Electrical Engineer and the multidisciplinary R&D team, you will help develop and optimize electrical and electronic systems that drive next-generation ECP and cell‑therapy platforms.
This is an excellent opportunity for an early‑career engineer passionate about applying hands‑on design and analytical skills in a regulated medical device environment with real‑world patient impact.
Job Requirements- BS in Electrical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or related discipline (MS a plus).
- 0–4 years of experience in product development, preferably in medical devices or other regulated systems.
- Foundational knowledge of analog/digital circuit design, power electronics, embedded systems and C/C++ programming.
- Familiarity with microcontrollers, sensors, and motor control drivers.
- Experience using electrical design software such as Altium Designer, OrCAD, or equivalent.
- Basic understanding of real‑time embedded control and communication protocols (SPI, I2C, UART).
- Basic understanding of FDA design controls and safety standards (IEC 60601 preferred).
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills using tools like oscilloscopes, DMMs, and logic analyzers.
- Effective communicator with a collaborative mindset and curiosity for learning new technologies.
- Support the design, prototyping, and testing of electrical systems and circuit boards for medical devices.
- Assist in schematic capture, PCB layout, and assembly using electrical CAD tools (e.g., Altium, OrCAD).
- Contribute to embedded system development, including microcontroller interfacing, motor control (C/C++, microcontrollers).
- Perform electrical testing, data collection, and analysis to validate design performance and reliability.
- Collaborate with senior electrical, mechanical, software, and systems engineers to ensure seamless subsystem integration.
- Participate in design reviews, documentation, and verification activities per Therakos design controls and ISO 13485 requirements.
- Help develop test fixtures, instrumentation setups, and prototypes for bench and system testing.
- Support root‑cause analysis and continuous improvement initiatives across product development phases.
