Position: Police Officer - All Experience Levels

POST Certified Police Officers:$68,000/annually

Please read and complete all the steps below to be considered for this upcoming testing period.

Step 1:
Fully complete the City of Franklin application. Attach all relevant documents, including any POST certification that you have received.

Step 2:

Once you have completed the application, email
policersvp to receive a free testing voucher. Additional vouchers must be paid for by the candidate.

WRITTEN EXAMINATION:
Applicants will take the LAW ENFORCEMENT exam administered electronically by the National Testing Network (NTN). The final day to take the Test will be JANUARY 23RD, 2026, at 5:00 PM CT to be considered for the upcoming testing period.

Once you have passed our written exam, you will receive an email invitation with more details to attend our physical agility test, which will take place Wednesday, January 28th.

Interviews

Interviews will be scheduled for Wednesday, January 28th
, immediately after passing the physical agility test, which will take place Wednesday, January 28th . Candidates who are out of state/outof town will receive scheduling priority. Depending on the number of candidates, additional interviews may be scheduled for the following days, on Thursday, January 29th and Friday, January 30th
.

Physical agility practice date:

Candidates are invited to come practice our physical agility test (obstacle course) prior to testing. Candidates interested in attending should report to the main lobby of the police headquarters at 900 Columbia Ave. Franklin, TN 37064 on Tuesday, January 20th at 9:00 AM.

I. Purpose of Job

Under limited supervision, patrols assigned zone while exercising responsibility for the enforcement of state and local laws relating to public safety and welfare. Controls traffic, prevents crime or disturbances of the peace, and arrests violators. While working under often stressful, high-risk conditions, applies good independent judgment when dealing with dangerous or unusual situations and implements safe practices and procedures. Reports to the Patrol Sergeant, Patrol Lieutenant, or acting supervisor.

A. Performs policing duties

  • Patrols an assigned district in a patrol car, bicycle, or on foot, to observe assigned area for possible criminal activity or other conditions that could endanger public safety; investigates complaints and enforces laws; maintains high visibility.
  • Responds to requests for assistance by, or complaints from, the public via the dispatcher.
  • Identifies, investigates, and reports accidents, dangerous or defective streets, sidewalks, traffic lights, or other hazardous conditions to the appropriate departments or agencies.
  • Investigates crimes, interviews witnesses, complainants, and victims; gathers physical evidence and preserves such evidence for court use; conducts follow up investigations if necessary.
  • Apprehends, arrests, and detains criminal suspects and law violators when necessary; follows proper procedures when making arrests to ensure the safety of arresting officer, the public, and the suspect.
  • Enforces all applicable laws of the State of Tennessee and the City of Franklin; notes suspicious persons and establishments and reports to superior officer.
  • Maintains responsibility for the upkeep of patrol car and any related equipment that is the property of the City of Franklin.
  • Assumes control at traffic accidents to maintain smooth traffic flow, assists traffic accident victims, and investigates causes of accidents.
  • Completes paperwork related to policing duties.
