Position: Mental Health Counselor (Children & Adolescent)

Overview

Franklin Primary Health Center is seeking a Mental Health Counselor to provide clinical services to children and adolescents in Mobile, AL. This full-time position reports to the Director of Behavioral Health and collaborates with the School-Based Program to ensure quality mental health care for youth.

Key Responsibilities
  • Complete comprehensive psychosocial assessments and mental health evaluations
  • Provide individual, group, family, and play therapy using appropriate therapeutic models
  • Use assessment data to support DSM-V diagnoses
  • Develop measurable treatment plans and behavior management strategies
  • Coordinate discharge planning and referrals to community services
  • Respond to crises and implement de-escalation strategies
  • Collaborate with internal staff and external partners to coordinate care
  • Participate in treatment team meetings and clinical staffing
  • Maintain compliance with program standards and certification requirements
  • Refer patients to legal, financial, healthcare, and social services as needed
  • Maintain accurate clinical documentation, charts, and referrals
  • Contribute to reporting for funding agencies and administration
  • Maintain professional licensure and attend trainings to enhance skills
  • Manage caseload effectively and seek supervision when needed
  • Participate in FPHC community events and support office operations and policies
Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, or related field
  • Active Alabama license (LPC, LICSW, LMFT, or license-eligible)
  • Experience with children and adolescents preferred
  • Strong understanding of therapeutic modalities and crisis intervention
  • Excellent documentation and communication skills
Work Schedule & Pay

Full-time | Monday–Friday | Day shift | Competitive salary based on experience
