Job Summary and Qualifications

Rapid Response Nurse

Under Tennessee Board of Nursing scope of practice the Registered Nurses (RNs) provide and coordinate patient care, educate patients and families about various health conditions, and provide advice and emotional support to patients and their family members. RNs must use independent and critical judgment in providing a wide variety of services within a critical care environment. The purpose of the Rapid Response Team (RRT) is to provide assessment, early intervention and stabilization for patients and to prevent clinical deterioration or arrest.

Additionally, the RRT will provide teaching, mentoring, and support to our nursing units.

What you will do in this role:

  • You will monitor, record, and report symptoms or changes in patients' conditions including MEWS alert notification.
  • You will order, interpret, and evaluate diagnostic tests to identify and assess patient's condition.
  • You will make periodic daily rounds to each inpatient clinical area.
  • You will provide educational opportunities designed to meet the continuing education requirements of the facility
  • You will modify patient treatment plans as indicated by patients' responses and conditions.
  • You will prepare patients for and assist with examinations or treatments.

What qualifications you will need:

  • RN licensure by Tennessee Board of Nursing or a Board of Nursing from a compact state.
  • Bachelor’s degree is preferred
  • BLS, ACLS required
  • CPI required within 6 months of hire kept current per hospital requirements
