This position is responsible for providing professional grooming services for dogs using knowledge of canine characteristics, grooming styles, and techniques.

• Deliver world-class customer satisfaction
• Answer phone calls and schedule appointments
• Assist in generating business by calling existing and new customers, scheduling appointments, follow-up calls, reminders, and verifying vaccinations
• Book appointments and greet pets as they arrive
• Report all accidents and injuries to the Store Manager promptly
• Follow bathing/grooming procedures as outlined
• Clean ears, clip nails, and perform other needed services
• Adhere to customer instructions regarding clipping patterns
• Clip dog’s hair according to the pattern, using electric clippers, combs, and shears
• Comb and shape dogs’ coats
• Use non-physical techniques to keep animals calm
• Complete and maintain customer and company forms accurately
• Observe all safety rules and standards
• Maintain cleanliness of cages, tubs, and grooming areas
• Assist in store operations as needed

Experience:

Minimum of 1-year grooming/styling pets. Must be comfortable working with dogs and cats.
Must provide own tools (clippers, blades, shears) or be willing to purchase them.

Education:

High school diploma or equivalent. Completion of Paragon Level 1 & 2 training provided by Petsense. Will consider a suitable combination of education and experience. Must be able to read, write, and count accurately.

• Operate all grooming tools and equipment including bathing tubs, brushes, shears, clippers, and shampoos
• Effective communication with customers
• Display compassion and treat animals kindly
• Attention to detail
• Accurate documentation skills
• Lift and carry pets weighing 0-50 pounds
• Work varied hours, including nights and weekends
• Stand and walk for long periods
• Work safely around pets and waste

• Indoor work environment with moderate noise
• Exposure to wet conditions, pet dander, and grooming tools
• Varied shifts, generally no less than 4 hours, may exceed 8 hours
• Maintain safety standards
• Work on hard surfaces with adequate lighting and temperature

• Move and transfer animals and equipment up to 50 pounds
• Stand and maintain position for up to 8 hours
• Move around the salon frequently
• Use grooming instruments effectively
• Bend, kneel, and squat regularly
• Operate store equipment
• Complete documentation accurately
• Communicate effectively
• Complete required training
• This position is non-sedentary
