Admin Assistant to the Dean of Student Services

D. Camp Community College is a small 2-year college in Southeast Virginia. Campuses are located in Franklin and Suffolk, with a center in Smithfield. The college offers associate degrees, certificates, and career studies certificates in transfer and career/technical programs; credit and non-credit workforce services and training for businesses and industries; special interest classes for the community; and summer classes for youth through the Regional Workforce Development Center.
A dual enrollment program for high school students, online courses, and developmental studies classes are available at the college as well.
- Provides administrative and clerical assistance to the Dean of Student Services.
- Prepares correspondence, schedules meetings, manages calendars, and maintains confidential records.
- Prepares, edits, and distributes documents, reports, and forms related to student services and admissions.
- Organizes and maintains electronic and paper filing systems for student services and admissions documentation.
- Responds to inquiries from students, staff, and the public in a courteous and professional manner.
- Receives, reviews, and processes admission forms and supporting documents.
- Provides office coverage as needed.
- Assists in reviewing domicile information, verifying documentation, and entering data into student information systems.
- Communicates with applicants regarding missing or incomplete information and provides guidance based on established policies.
- Serves as a frontline resource for inquiries related to admissions, enrollment, and general student services.
- Provides accurate information or referrals to appropriate offices as needed.
- Contributes to a positive student experience through professional and responsive communication.
- Assist with student services enrollment activities and special projects as assigned.
- Provides backup support to other student services staff as needed.
Required Qualifications
Related work experience in an office setting utilizing time management, verbal and written communication, and customer service skills. Demonstrate active listening to respond appropriately to internal and external customer concerns. Proven use of organizational skills and being detail oriented. Display excellent leadership and problem solving skills. Demonstrated proficiency using word processing, spreadsheet, email software, etc.
Additional ConsiderationsExperience in higher education or student services settings; knowledge of admissions or domicile determination processes.
