Directional Drilling Locator SIGN ON BONUS
JRP Utility Construction is an expert turn‑key utility construction company that offers walkout and design, permitting, both aerial and underground construction, fiber and copper splicing, and all required testing and close‑out packages. We are seeking an experienced, safety‑conscious Directional Drilling Locator to support ongoing and upcoming projects. This role is critical to protecting underground utilities and ensuring the safety of construction activities.

- Accurately locate drill heads of Vermeer and Ditch Witch machines while drilling underground using various locating equipment.
- Interpret and work from construction maps, utility prints, and electronic diagrams.
- Communicate effectively with contractors, project managers, and property owners in English; bilingual is a plus.
- Maintain accurate records of work performed.
- Follow all company safety policies and regulatory standards.
- Restore excavated ground to original condition when required.
- Load and unload materials, tools, and equipment as needed.
- Dig trenches manually or with equipment and perform potholing to identify utility locations.
- Backfill excavations and compact soil to required specifications.
- Prepare and clean construction sites for utility work.
- Perform various other general labor tasks as assigned by the supervisor.
- 3+ years proven experience in HDD locating using a variety of industry‑standard tools and technologies.
- Ability to accurately read and interpret construction maps and utility plans.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Current and valid auto insurance.
- Must pass a pre‑employment drug test and criminal background check.
- Reliable transportation and ability to work independently in the field.
- CDL (Commercial Driver’s License) preferred, but not required.
- OSHA safety certifications or other relevant training a plus.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to job site safety.
- Overnight travel is required for some projects. Travel assignments may span from a few days to several consecutive weeks. Lodging will be provided as applicable.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Ability to walk, stand, bend, and lift for extended periods.
- Must be capable of performing physically demanding tasks safely and efficiently.
