Founded in November 2020, Pain Physicians of Wisconsin is a group of physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, and a dedicated support staff serving the southeast region of Wisconsin. Their goal is to help patients live healthy lives by easing pain symptoms and restoring function and movement.

Position Summary

  • Assist providers in seeing patients; gather and record vital signs and medical histories, prepare patients for examination, draw blood, initiate toxicology screens, and administer medications as directed.
  • Record information in electronic medical records (EHR) database or paper chart and gather all essential components from demographic sheets/consents/credit policies/charge slips, update medication, and history.
  • Complete necessary paperwork as ordered by provider including printing prescriptions, work restrictions, referrals, and scheduling diagnostic testing.
  • Participate in correct scheduling of patients and appropriate communication with the scheduling department.
  • Obtain and document vitals and data regarding modified Aldrete and discharge readiness scores. Assist in patient discharge with appropriate paperwork.
  • Assist in the performance of chart review daily to ensure completeness and accuracy of patient documentation.
  • Assist in keeping ASC orderly and follow cleaning protocols.
  • Act as a scribe for providers recording patient information as dictated, when requested.
  • Help support Quality Assessment and Performance Improvement initiatives as part of the team.
  • Facilitate communication to physicians and health care providers regarding questions about treatment procedures, medications, diets, and physicians’ instructions to patients.
  • Always participate and maintain patient safety and dignity.
  • Demonstrate competency and routinely perform duties in at least one of the following role areas:
    Surgical (applies and monitors aseptic technique, assists provider, turns over rooms, communicates breaches).
  • Effectively communicate with health care providers regarding patient questions and needs. Document accurately in EHR, create encounters as needed, properly update, and utilize medication module. Tasks and communicate with providers regarding triage needs.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent. Certified Medical Assistant certification preferred but will train the right candidate.
  • Related experience preferred.
  • Strong organizational, judgment, communication, and analytical skills; sometimes under pressure.
  • Ability to multi‑task and perform multiple priorities.
  • Cooperative and professional behavior toward patients, peers, providers, leadership, and visitors.
  • Ability to promote a favorable facility image with patients, providers, insurance companies and the general public.
  • Ability to work independently, make decisions, and problem‑solve.
  • Evidence of leadership qualities, contributing to improvement of the department and committee participation.
  • Ability to contribute to a team environment and provide excellent customer service.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office.

Licenses & Certifications

  • Current certification as Medical Assistant from an accredited agency preferred; willing to train candidate with medical experience.
  • BLS certified or obtain certification within three months of hire.

  • Criminal & caregiver background check, renewed every four years.
  • Professional reference check.
  • TB & rubella screen.
  • Hepatitis B and Quanti

    FERON screen.
  • Drug screen.
