Weekend Shift Sheetfed First Press Operator

Job Summary

Quad Packaging is seeking a Lead Sheetfed Operator to work on our 12‑hour weekend shift in Franklin, WI. The hourly rate ranges from $25 - $35 based on knowledge, skills, experience, and market conditions.

Hours:

5:00 am – 5:00 pm, Friday‑Sunday, with voluntary overtime during the week. New hires will train on one of our core shifts (First Shift or Second Shift) until ready to transition to the weekend shift.

• Prepare for operation: review job tickets, set up the offset press machine for the correct substrate, ink, and plate specifications, communicate job information and additional instructions to support staff, and ensure the machine is stocked with necessary supplies.
• Operate Sheetfed Press: operate assigned equipment within company safety standards to finish printed products according to customer specifications, monitor raw material levels and add as needed.
• Perform Quality Checks: complete quality checklists and perform visual quality checks throughout the printing process to ensure customer satisfaction.
• Perform Maintenance: observe and monitor machine operations to determine when adjustments are needed, perform basic maintenance and troubleshooting of assigned equipment during the shift.
• Perform Line Clearance: clean the assigned area by removing all products from the line, trash, boxes, and other supplies associated with a completed order.
• Troubleshoot issues during production.
• Attain and maintain proper ink and water balance.
• Document maintenance issues and direct crew to duties during scheduled maintenance.
• Check and set rollers, and change if necessary.
• Perform needed maintenance during any delay time.
• Monitor and maintain constant ink densities per customer specifications.
• Attend all Operators' meetings.
• Work with urgency when the press is down to maintain production requirements.
• Continuously learn new and improved processes to increase production.
• Provide ongoing training and development for other pressroom personnel.
• Assist supervisors in documenting and improving procedures by offering ideas and suggestions.
• Assist supervisors in providing feedback for employee evaluations.
• Facilitate teamwork among team members and between shifts.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• 3+ years of Lead Sheetfed Operator experience; packaging/printing field preferred.
• Experience with Heidelberg XL 106 6‑color or K&B Rapida 106 7‑color desirable; other makes considered.
• Understanding of color, with ability to pass a color test required.
• Strong mechanical skills and aptitude.
• Ability to lift 10‑15 pounds continuously, and lift up to 50 pounds occasionally. Ability to stand long hours (12‑hour shift) and use hands and wrists continuously in controlled movement.
• Ability to work 12‑hour shifts, with overtime and holidays as required (OT paid over 40 hours per week).

• Machine repair and maintenance experience.

The actual rate of pay offered will vary based upon education, skills, experience, proficiency, performance, shift, and location. In addition to base pay, the total compensation package may include overtime and shift differentials.
