Role Overview

We are looking for a route sales & service Level II technician who has a passion for the customer and life safety. The candidate should love people, be sales oriented, and be able to perform inspection, installation, testing, service, and repair of fire extinguishers, exit/emergency lights, and kitchen hood suppression systems. This includes confirming compliance with applicable life-safety and fire-safety requirements as mandated by standards and codes, manufacturers requirements, federal, state and local ordinances, customer requirements, and the expectations and requirements of the company.

This is a fast paced and demanding role with high visibility within the company.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Perform inspection, testing, service, and repairs as required for fire extinguishers, exit/emergency lights, and pre-engineered suppression systems, including six-year maintenance, hydrotest, recharge, battery replacement, bulb replacement and other services and repairs as mandated by standards and codes, manufacturers requirements, federal, state and local ordinances, and procedures, customer requirements, and company expectations.
  • Troubleshoot and service fire extinguishers, exit/emergency lights, and kitchen hood suppression systems.
  • Record and document all inspections, repairs, discrepancies, and recommendations electronically or manually.
  • Maintain a positive relationship with the customer and pass on information to appropriate personnel for follow up, quotes, questions, or concerns.
  • Keep the vehicle clean and stocked with parts, equipment, and supplies needed to perform the job.
  • Maintain equipment and tools necessary to safely perform the job.
  • Evaluate customer site for additional equipment and services the customer may require.
  • Work in compliance with the Company's safety program.
  • Discuss deficiencies noted with the customer, explaining the problem and its resolution.
  • There may be nights, weekends, and/or holidays work requirements; some locations may have more frequent demands.
  • Must be comfortable with heights, working on ladders or lifts, or in confined spaces.

Qualifications

  • 1 – 3 years of route sales and service experience in the fire life safety industry with a concentration in extinguishers, e-lights, and hood suppression systems.
  • Ability to calculate basic math including fractions, decimals and percentages.
  • Knowledge to operate basic computer functions and software (Windows, Word, Apple iOS, Android, Outlook); willingness to learn industry-specific devices and software.
  • Must currently have a valid U.S. driver’s license.

IDEAL QUALITIES

  • 3 – 5 years of route sales and service experience in the fire life safety industry with a concentration in extinguishers, e-lights, and hood suppression systems.

Working Conditions &

Physical Requirements:

Overtime may be required; hours vary by location. Varying work environments from hot to cold and exposure to dust. Overnight travel to customer locations may be required. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally. Frequent lifting and carrying of toolboxes, equipment, parts, and supplies. Frequent ladder climbing, bending, crouching, kneeling, and overhead work. Driving may be required; PPE must be worn as per safety standards.
