Fire Alarm & Suppression Technician – Certa Site

We are looking for a fire alarm & suppression Level II technician who is passionate about customer and life safety. The ideal candidate has experience in the fire protection industry and can perform inspections, installations, testing, service, and repairs of fire alarm systems, engineered and pre‑engineered suppression systems. They will confirm compliance with applicable life‑safety and fire‑safety requirements per standards, codes, manufacturer requirements, federal, state, and local ordinances, customer requirements, and company expectations.

Responsibilities
  • Perform installation, inspection, and testing of all types of fire alarm and engineered and pre‑engineered suppression systems at required frequencies in accordance with NFPA codes and standards.
  • Program, test, conduct final inspections, create as‑built drawings, and provide customer training for installations.
  • Troubleshoot and perform service and repair of fire alarm and suppression systems.
  • Record and document all inspections, repairs, discrepancies, and recommendations electronically or manually.
  • Maintain a positive relationship with the customer and pass information to appropriate personnel for follow‑up, quotes, questions, or concerns.
  • Maintain vehicle in clean and orderly fashion; keep vehicle stocked with parts, equipment, and supplies necessary for the job.
  • Maintain equipment and tools necessary to safely perform job tasks.
  • Evaluate customer site for additional equipment and services that customers may require.
  • Work in compliance with the company’s safety program.
  • Perform on‑site and/or off‑site (phone) emergency troubleshooting of fire alarm and suppression systems.
  • Discuss deficiencies with the customer, explaining the problem and resolution.
  • Be comfortable with nights, weekends, and/or holidays, as required.
  • Be comfortable with heights, working on ladders or lifts, or in confined spaces.
Qualifications
  • Minimum 2 years of experience with fire detection and signaling systems, including at least 12 months of fire alarm systems experience.
  • Experience in installation, inspection, testing, commissioning, technical systems estimating, sales plans preparation, and maintenance.
  • Ability to calculate basic math including fractions, decimals, and percentages.
  • Knowledge and ability to understand and operate basic computer functions, operating systems and software applications such as Windows, Word, Apple iOS, Android, and Outlook.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and wiring diagrams; knowledge of low voltage and wiring.
  • Valid U.S. driver’s license.
  • NICET II Certification in Fire Alarm Systems (ideal).
  • State license in the relevant state (ideal).
  • 5 years of experience with fire alarm and suppression systems (ideal).
  • Experience with electrical wiring and circuitry (desired).

Working Conditions &

Physical Requirements
  • Overtime may be required; hours may vary based on work location.
  • Work in environments ranging from hot to cold temperatures, dust exposure, occasional overnight travel.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally; frequent lifting and carrying of toolboxes, equipment, parts, tools, cabling, and wiring.
  • Ladder climbing, pulling wire, walking, stooping, bending, crouching, kneeling, overhead reaching.
  • Required driving; amount of driving may vary.
  • Must wear PPE in accordance with safety standards.
