We are currently seeking a skilled Machinist for the OD – Night Shift (5:30 PM to 4:00 AM).
Responsibilities- Read, interpret, and follow blueprints, sketches, and product/engineering specifications.
- Set up and operate CNC OD and equipment (Studer grinding machine) with minimal supervision.
- Make adjustments as required to maintain print specifications.
- Grind spline shafts and aircraft gears with tolerances of .0001”–.0005”.
- Maintain proper documentation of SPC data and participate in the certified operator program.
- Inspect faces and diameters using micrometers, gauges, and amps.
- Perform in‑process and last‑piece inspection using micrometers, calipers, comparators, and various gauges.
- Perform operator maintenance.
- Perform required measurements to assure product quality.
- Notify your leader of all non‑conforming product.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Mechanical aptitude is a plus.
- Working knowledge of inspection devices and instruments.
- Ability to translate prints and understand GD&T.
- Blueprint reading skills.
- Shop math skills.
- Proficiency in using a wide variety of precision measuring tools.
- Ability to utilize visual comparator and precision gear check equipment.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals in English. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence in English.
Reasoning AbilityAbility to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Physical DemandsWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit, climb or balance, and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds.
