Surface Mining Operations Management Trainee

Vulcan Materials Company is the nation’s largest producer of construction aggregates and a major producer of aggregate‑based construction materials, including asphalt and ready‑mixed concrete. This role offers an 18‑ to 24‑month Operations Management Trainee Program designed to develop future leaders in Vulcan operations.

The program provides training across key operational areas such as quarrying, production, quality control, logistics, maintenance, safety, and environmental compliance. You will spend time at our quarries in Hanover, PA, and Frederick, MD.

• Promote safety and ensure zero accidents while complying with Vulcan’s policies and procedures.
• Learn the business through temporary assignments to gain a holistic understanding of Vulkan’s operations and collaboration across departments.
• Gain hands‑on experience with crushing, processing equipment, pit development, drilling and blasting, mobile equipment operation, quality control, customer service, and overall facility management.
• Assist in analyzing production, inventory, quality control, site planning, and operational reports.
• Participate in daily inspection and maintenance of plant and mobile equipment.
• Assist with inspections and minor maintenance of fixed and mobile equipment.

• Additional responsibilities: other duties as assigned.
• Education:
  
  Preferably a degree in Mining, Engineering, or the Building Materials Industry.

• Salary Range: $67,500 – $77,000 annually (excludes discretionary bonus and equity).
