Join Southland Industries as a Safety Coordinator II. In this role, you will assist the Division Safety Program in enforcing and regulating safety procedures to ensure that Southland Industries meets all safety requirements in the field by managing and coordinating all division safety activities.
Whatyou’ll do
- Tour and inspect job sites to ensure compliance with company, state and federal OSHA rules and regulations. Report concerns to safety management and coordinate, promote and conduct programs related to the safety management system.
- Document safety inspections, identify hazardous areas/procedures, and recommend corrective measures. Provide recommendations for correcting non-compliance issues and ensure cited issues are corrected within the designated time frame.
- Maintain site safety documentation, including accident reports, inspection reports and training logs; review daily job hazard logs and take action as required.
- Provide emergency response to employees as needed.
- Prepare documentation for accident and injury investigations and submit data to regulatory agencies as required.
- Assist with developing training materials and coordinate and facilitate employee training as necessary.
- Train less-experienced safety employees as needed.
- Exercise independent judgement on day-to-day duties and consult with the manager on decisions that significantly impact the company.

- Strong computer skills with experience in Microsoft Office and ability to access OSHA information online.
- Knowledge of safety operating processes and OSHA CFR 1926 standards or state construction safety regulations.
- Minimum of 4+ years as a safety professional in a construction environment, including training experience.
- Bachelor’s degree in Safety, Health or Environmental Applied Sciences or related strong construction safety experience.
- CHST or ASP certification preferred; CPR and First Aid certifications required.
- OSHA 10, 30, and 40-hour training required; OSHA 500 preferred.
- Excellent knowledge of health and safety management systems and OSHA CFR 1926 standards or state regulations.
