The Joint Replacement Surgeon examines, diagnoses, and treats diseases and injuries to the musculoskeletal system. Responsible for determining and prescribing courses of treatment for patients with injuries, disorders, or malformations and performing required surgery.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Diagnose, treat, or prescribe treatment using medical histories, physical examinations, x‑rays and laboratory test results.
  • Hospital and group call
  • Perform surgeries within the scope of practice.
  • Consult with inter‑professional team on the care of patients.
  • Prescribe medications, corrective devices, physical therapy, or surgery; set fractures.
  • Administer medications and local anesthesia.
  • Actively pursue and participate in research activities as well as mentor residents and other medical staff in research endeavors.
  • Record all diagnoses, treatments, and prescriptions.
  • Refer patients to other physicians or specialists for consultation in an inter‑professional manner.
  • Advise patients about treatments to prevent future problems.
  • Ensure consistent compliance with all regulatory and CAO guidelines, policies, and procedures.
  • Perform other duties assigned.
Required

Education and Experience
  • Licensed and board certified M.D. in Orthopaedic Surgery in assigned practice state(s).
  • Must have extensive training or experience in joint replacement.
  • BLS certification required.
  • Fellowship training preferred.
  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in Orthopaedic Surgery.
  • Maintain CEUs in pertinent clinical practice according to licensure requirements.
  • Excellent knowledge of therapeutic and surgical treatments for the lower extremities.
  • Experience and proficiency working with computers and electronic medical records.

  • Must be able to read, write, speak, understand, and communicate in the English language.
Physical Demands
  • Must be able to sit for long periods of time and lift up to 50 pounds.
