Adjunct, Continuing Education and Workforce Development Healthcare Careers
Frederick Community College is seeking an Adjunct instructor to deliver general instruction for the Continuing Education and Workforce Development Healthcare Careers Department, primarily for the Foundations for Healthcare Careers course and other non-program specific continuing education courses. The role includes preparing and executing didactic classroom instruction and facilitating online material, evaluating students through various means, and informing students of progress.
Position SummaryThis position provides general instruction for the Continuing Education and Workforce Development Healthcare Careers Department. The adjunct instructor prepares and executes didactic classroom instruction and activities and/or facilitates online material. Instructors evaluate students by a variety of means to measure progress in achieving course objectives and skills mastery and inform students of progress.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Conduct organized classes at the instructional level to meet the educational requirements stated in course descriptions and objectives.
- Develop engaging course content, including securing guest speakers for special topics.
- Facilitate Workplace Excellence Series modules using provided curriculum (for Foundations for Healthcare careers course).
- Be available via email and phone throughout the week to answer student questions regarding classroom and/or online content.
- Evaluate the progress of each student; notify students of progress.
- Maintain professional relationships with students, colleagues, and the community.
- Participate in appropriate professional development activities to assure currency in both discipline knowledge and instructional methods.
Minimum Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in a professional or allied healthcare field.
- AA degree or higher.
- Previous teaching experience (classroom or professional/corporate training).
- Experience using Blackboard LMS and PowerPoint.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.
- Workplace Excellence Series Certified Facilitator.
