Position Summary
The Youth Program Instructor supports the Kids on Campus summer program and provides creative hands‑on instruction to learners aged 8 – 15 with diverse educational needs and goals. This position will be responsible for teaching non‑credit courses for Youth Programs within the Continuing Education and Workforce Development (CEWD) Department and may instruct in the following program areas:
- Science
- Technology/Computers
- Engineering
- Arts & Music
- Languages & Cultures
- Business & Finance
- Health & Fitness
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Plan detailed, relevant, creative lesson plans to engage students.
- Provide applicable and relevant classroom exercises and activities.
- Provide course descriptions, learning objectives and supply needs to the Program Manager.
- Complete orientation process for new hires, including Title IX and other College Policy training.
- Submit and update personnel forms required for employment.
- Submit class evaluations and other documents as directed by program staff.
- Cultivate open‑minded inquiry.
- Promote cooperation and mutual respect among students.
- Other duties as assigned.
Please note this position will require a pre‑hire drug test, CPS Check, and fingerprinting.
Required Minimum Qualifications
- Previous teaching or student teaching experience with youth ages 6‑16
- Basic computer skills necessary for utilizing technology in classroom
Desired Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Education or related field
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Ability to use varying styles and approaches that reflect an understanding and acceptance of the role of culture in a diverse, multicultural workplace
