RISE Services is seeking a compassionate, dependable, and engaging
Youth Job Coach
to help students with disabilities explore careers, develop workplace skills, gain real-world experience, and prepare for employment and life after high school.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working with
teenagers and young adults
and wants to help students become more confident, independent, and prepared for their futures.
Depending on the students you support, you may spend your day helping someone create their first resume, practice for a job interview, explore career options, learn workplace expectations, visit a local employer, participate in a work experience, or develop skills needed for greater independence.
A bachelor's degree is not required.
Previous Pre-Employment Transition Services (Pre-ETS) experience is not required. Training is provided.
What You'll Help Students AccomplishYouth Job Coaches work individually and in small groups with students, generally ages
14–21
, who have disabilities, IEPs, Section 504 Plans, or other qualifying support needs.
You will help students:
Explore careers that match their interests, strengths, and abilities.
Learn how to search and apply for jobs.
Create resumes and complete employment applications.
Practice interviewing and communicating with employers.
Develop teamwork, communication, punctuality, and problem-solving skills.
Understand workplace expectations and professional behavior.
Build confidence, independence, and self-advocacy skills.
Explore college, vocational training, apprenticeships, and other postsecondary options.
Participate in workplace tours, informational interviews, job shadowing, and approved work experiences.
Prepare for successful work-based learning experiences.
Obtain work permits and complete other employment-related steps when needed.
Develop practical skills that support successful transitions into adulthood.
Provide engaging, individualized career-readiness and employment activities.
Help students identify strengths, interests, preferences, abilities, and employment goals.
Teach practical job-search and employment-readiness skills.
Assist with resumes, applications, and interview preparation.
Conduct mock interviews and other career-development activities.
Help students understand different careers and pathways to employment.
Teach workplace communication, professional behavior, and problem-solving.
Help students prepare for work-based learning experiences.
Support students during approved workplace and community experiences.
Coordinate activities with employers and community partners.
Help students understand employer expectations and workplace culture.
Provide coaching and support that promotes increasing independence.
Participate in career exploration activities, workplace tours, and other community-based learning opportunities.
Adapt instruction and activities to each student's abilities, communication style, interests, and support needs.
Build positive and professional relationships with teenagers and young adults.
Help students identify and overcome barriers to employment.
Encourage self-advocacy, confidence, and independent decision-making.
