You will join a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other vital roles. You will collaborate with teams across AWS to uphold high safety and security standards while delivering capacity at the lowest possible cost, and you will experience an inclusive culture that welcomes bold ideas and ownership.
Responsibilities- Direct interface with construction general contractors during bidding, award, execution, and project closeout/punch list phases.
- Conduct negotiations with general contractors and evaluate bids/proposals with detail and accuracy.
- Create construction project scope and requests for proposals.
- Perform financial analysis of construction.
- Manage construction projects for initiatives aimed at increasing the resiliency of AWS data centers.
- Conduct constructability reviews of electrical and mechanical designs for new or optimized data centers.
- Manage construction documents including submittal reviews, RFIs, change orders, and invoicing.
- Ensure construction project quality control and record and report key construction metrics to team members and management.
- Drive teams to perform troubleshooting and root-cause analysis of equipment failures.
- Serve as a leader within the group and with internal/external teams supporting data centers.
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience bringing new design concepts through exploration, development, and deployment or mass production.
- Experience with MS Excel, Word, and Windows OS; knowledge of power management and power monitoring systems.
- 5+ years of project management in data centers or comparable critical infrastructure (preferred).
- Knowledge of critical data center equipment, engineering documentation, electrical diagrams, and standard operating procedures.
- Knowledge of building codes and regulations including Life Safety, BOCA, NFPA, NEC, or OSHA.
- Experience reading and interpreting construction specifications and drawings for all domains.
