. The role requires laboratory support with experiments in BSL-2 and BSL-3 facilities and maintaining BPRP status. Responsibilities include executing scientific studies, plaque assays, PCR, animal procedures, data collection and analysis, and maintaining lab equipment. The associate will also provide technical oversight and lead MIC Studies.
- Perform BSL-3 laboratory operations and train on animal manipulations
- Provide scientific support for mouse studies, including preparation of antibiotics, drug administration, collection of animal body fluids, and tissue removal
- Perform animal health exams in support of mouse studies
- Participate in BSL-2 pharmacokinetics mouse studies and support the in‑vivo pharmacology research program
- Assist with animal and bacterial challenge preparations
- Perform in vitro Minimum Inhibition Concentration (MIC) testing of therapeutic compounds against Tier 1 bacteria
- Acquire, analyze, and report bioanalytical data
- Assist with BSAT inventory management weekly
- Assist with equipment inventory management
- Assist with monthly laboratory management, safety functions and chemical inventory
- Maintain laboratories in BSL-2 and BSL-3
- Participate in weekly lab meetings
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Molecular Biology, Microbiology, Biochemistry, Immunology, Biology, or a related field
- Background in Pharmacology preferred
- 2+ years of lab experience
- Experience handling bacterial pathogens for in‑vitro and in‑vivo studies; preference for BSL-2 and BSL-3 labs
- Experience handling small animals for drug and vaccine administration via multiple routes, blood and tissue collection, animal observations, and necropsies
- Proficiency in bacterial burden assays, ELISA, MIC testing, live/dead assays under BSL-3, mass spectrometry, chromatography, and HPLC MS/MS (Sciex platforms with Shimadzu HPLCs)
- Software experience:
Applied Biosystems Analyst, Excel, Multi Quant Mass Spec Quantitation Software - Preparation of media and reagents as needed
- Knowledge of GFEBS ordering system preferred
- Excellent oral, written communication, and organizational skills
- Multi‑tasking ability in a high‑paced environment
- Team‑player with strong collaboration skills
- Prior experience in BSL-2 and BSL-3 biocontainment labs preferred
- Ability to obtain and maintain BPRP status
USD $60,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year.
