Sign Language Interpreter at Inside Higher Ed
Pay Rate: $61.02 hourly | Position Type:
Part-time Variable Schedule
- Perform high-level, complex interpreting for Deaf and hard of hearing individuals using American Sign Language or other sign language-based systems such as Signed English, Transliteration, or Visual Gestural Communication.
- Interpret face-to-face or remotely for classes, meetings, tutoring sessions, emergency situations, advising appointments, student/faculty conferences, and intake service meetings as needed.
- Provide interpreting services during College closures when classes or meetings continue online.
- Review and read textbooks or related course or meeting materials to aid in preparation.
- Interpret for co-curricular activities and other College-sponsored events, both on and off campus.
- Support various enrollment, retention, and completion initiatives of the College.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Interpreting certification from a national certifying board (RID, NAD, BEI)
- Two (2) years of professional interpreting experience
- Membership with the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID) and experience implementing the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID) Code of Professional Conduct
- Completion of a post-secondary degree program in Interpreter Preparation/Training
- Interpreting experience at the post-secondary education level
- Three (3) years of professional interpreting experience
Between the hours of 8:30-4:30 Monday to Friday
Other hours may include evenings and weekends, including Saturdays and Sundays
