Job Summary
The Press Room Operator is responsible for the efficient operation and maintenance of printing presses to produce high-quality print publications. This role involves ensuring that all printing processes run smoothly, maintaining equipment, and adhering to safety protocols.
Key Responsibilities- Set up and operate printing presses for daily production.
- Monitor print quality throughout the production process and make necessary adjustments.
- Ensure proper ink and paper supplies are available and loaded correctly.
- Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting on printing equipment.
- Report any mechanical issues to the supervisor and assist in repairs as needed.
- Conduct quality checks to ensure print standards are met.
- Collaborate with editorial and production teams to address any quality concerns.
- Follow all safety protocols and guidelines to maintain a safe working environment.
- Participate in safety training and adhere to OSHA regulations.
- Work closely with other press room staff to coordinate production schedules.
- Assist in training new operators and team members.
- Maintain accurate records of production runs, including quantities and any issues encountered.
- Report daily production statistics to management.
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical training in printing preferred.
- Previous experience as a press operator or in a related field is highly desirable.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
- Attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Ability to work on a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends as required.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to lift heavy materials and stand for long periods.
- Capability to perform physically demanding tasks in a fast-paced environment.
