Job Summary

The Worksite Nurse Practitioner functions in the role of clinician, consultant, educator, researcher. The work-site nurse practitioner will be a certified nurse practitioner who will practice in the work-site setting. This may be for one client, or many. This Nurse Practitioner is responsible for providing direct worker health care following accepted occupational health medical protocols. The Worksite Nurse Practitioner will also be responsible for the day-to-day management of the corporate clients OSHA medical surveillance programs, the OSHA 200 log and other programs as contracted with the corporate client.

Essential Functions:

  • Job Functions for the Worksite Nurse Practitioner:
    • Collaborates with specific company management to carry out the objectives of the company’s occupational health and safety efforts.
    • Provides initial assessment and treatment of on the job injuries and illnesses. Confers with the Medical Director of FHES as needed. Refers work related injuries or illnesses for further evaluation to the appropriate medical specialist as necessary.
    • Provides or coordinates the appropriate ongoing care, treatment, and follow-up of work related injury and illness based on knowledge of the specific work environment.
    • Collaborates with appropriate company management and health care providers to facilitate early return to work and alternate duty assignment.
    • Provides ongoing evaluation of the injured worker, the work environment and the ergonomic factors to bring about resolution of alternate duty and return to full capacity.
    • Assesses non-occupational illnesses occurring at work, determines need for immediacy of treatment. May initiate treatment for non-serious illnesses in order to facilitate the worker remaining at the work-site. Gives guidance to seek further care from personal health care provider.
    • Performs health screenings and provides guidance and direction for wellness initiatives including group and individual health education activities.
    • Administers vaccines such as Influenza, Hepatitis B and other appropriate immunizations.
    • Makes sure confidentiality of employee health information and medical records is maintained and protected.
    • Implements health and safety training appropriate for work environment.
    • Works with company management and the safety tem to establish effective loss control programs. Maintains client/company confidentiality and recognizes legal implications and consequences of actions.
    • Communicates potential problems/complaints to FHES Director of Operations and the FHES Medical Director.
    • Maintains expertise on current occupational health topic by attending seminars and participation in professional occupational health nurse practitioner organizations.
  • Participates in Process Improvements by engaging and actively participating in new QI workflow and processes.
  • Completes Peer Audits in a timely manner.
  • Accepts ownership of own behavior and actions.
  • Completes assigned duties within specified time frames.
