Frederick Surgical Center is a modern, patient-focused ambulatory surgery center committed to delivering exceptional outpatient surgical care. We are seeking a professional and compassionate Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Pre-Op/PACU team. This role plays an essential part in ensuring quality care and a positive experience for our surgical patients.

- Pre-operative assessment and preparation of patients, including taking vital signs, reviewing medical history, and educating patients on the surgical process and post-operative care
- Providing post-anesthesia care, including monitoring vital signs, assessing pain levels, and administering medications as needed
- Providing emotional support and education to patients and families during the recovery process
- Maintaining accurate and detailed records of patient care, including charting and reporting as required
- Participating in quality improvement initiatives and performance improvement projects to continually refine processes and provide the best possible care
- Provide safe, high-quality nursing care before and after surgical procedures
- Communicate effectively with physicians, patients, and team members
- Maintain accurate documentation and uphold clinical protocols
- Ensure compliance with safety, infection control, and privacy standards
- Active RN license in the state of Maryland
- Minimum of 1 year of nursing experience
- BLS certification (ACLS preferred or willingness to obtain)
- Strong interpersonal and critical thinking skills
- Professional, team-oriented, and patient-focused

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and act as a patient advocate.
- Ability to delegate tasks as appropriate according to the state Nurse Practice Act and job descriptions.
- Basic computer skills (eg, Microsoft® Word).
- Uses problem-solving and conflict resolution skills to foster effective work relationships with team members.
- Maintains required competencies.
- Adhering to principles of Universal Precautions
- Exhibits favorable bedside manner including listening and communication skills.
- Graduate from an accredited school of nursing.
- Current registered nurse licensure in state of employment.
- Two years perioperative services experience.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification, depending on patient population.
