CompensationThe salary range (or hiring range) for this exempt position has been established at:$75,000 - $84,000.
The above salary range represents the company's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. In addition, we offer a variety of benefits including company holidays, paid time off, health insurance, dental insurance, vision insurance, life and disability insurance, tuition reimbursement, as well as 401K with company match. This job will be posted until filled or withdrawn.
ResponsibilitiesThe employee will provide technical laboratory support in the tasks of maintaining an ISO 17034 accredited reference materials producer of microbial materials and reagents. This includes, but is not limited to, strain accession, production of seed and production material, strain characterization studies, production of assay reagents and controls, inventory management, and distribution activities. Additional research activities may be included in this scope.
- Performance of molecular and genomic analysis procedures, in BSL-2 as required, aggregate, analyze, and interpret microbiological, molecular, sequence and phenotypic data in support of laboratory programs and projects.
- Utilize bioinformatics applications to support the analysis of laboratory-acquired data.
- Maintain and improve existing Microsoft Access databases to support the retention, retrieval, and analysis of experimental data.
- Develop and apply computer codes to support the processing and analysis of laboratory acquired data.
- Prepare technical reports and manuscripts for publication. Prepare monthly Biocurator BRMR Progress Reports concerning activities related to these tasks.
- With direction, provide culture identification and characterization data to support the reference material collection using current microbiological, molecular, and immunodiagnostic assays, to include sequencing on Illumina, Oxford Nanopore, and equivalent platforms.
- CONUS/OCONUS travel may be required in support of the diagnostic mission and/or presentation of scientific research.
- Train and competency assess Division Personnel on key laboratory practices, procedures and techniques.
