Job Title: Plumbing Apprentice
Reports to: Site Manager
Department: Operations
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt, Hourly
The plumbing apprentice is responsible for the installation and assembly of the plumbing systems. He/she is responsible for ensuring the work area safety is maintained to the highest standard, ensuring quality of installation, and ensure code compliant installations. He/she is to act professionally and respectfully to all other team members.
Plumbing Mechanic – Essential Duties:
- Dedicated to maintaining a clean, safe working environment, while delivering a first-class plumbing system, maintaining customer satisfaction and quality workmanship
- Responsible for quality control of all required testing and installations.
- Documentation is planned and completed correctly and timely.
- Strong ability to read and understand construction drawings & specifications
- Investigate and incorporate project constraints/difficulty in planning effort.
- Maintain a professional, courteous attitude with all project team members.
- Supervising, training, coaching and mentoring field personnel
- Fill pipes or fixtures with proper test medium such as water, air nitrogen, argon, etc.
- Measure, cut, thread and bend pipe using hand and power tools.
- Locate leaks, using soap and water solutions or pressure gauges, and repair pipes
- Fit valves, couplings, or assemblies to tanks, pumps or systems using hand tools
- Join pipe by soldering, banding, cementing, clamping and brazing
- Loads and unloads construction materials from trucks and into buildings
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Good time management skills and organizational skills.
- Ability to work without direct supervision
- Experience with Layouts
- Knowledge of basic construction and shop math
- Knowledge of International Plumbing and Gas codes.
- Employee will provide their own hand tools needed for the trade
Supervisory Responsibility:
This position will not supervise others but will require leading by example all field project team members in a professional/courteous manner.
This position works in a construction site environment. Pleasant and safe working atmosphere and conditions, which at times may involve moderate exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises.
Expected Hours of Work:
This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday 7:00AM-3:00PM or set by the construction site. This position may require working a Saturday or extended hours as set by the construction site, ease of stocking/rigging and to meet/exceed daily production standards.
