Itinerant School Social Worker

Help students build resilience, navigate challenges, and succeed in the classroom! Cross Country Education is seeking a compassionate Itinerant School Social Worker in Frederick, MD, to support student mental health through individual and group counseling, crisis intervention, and collaboration with educators and families across multiple school sites.

• Provide individual and group counseling to students experiencing social, emotional, behavioral, and mental health challenges across multiple school sites.
• Conduct social developmental histories, assessments, and evaluations to support special education services and student support planning.
• Collaborate with educators, school psychologists, and multidisciplinary teams during IEP, 504, and student support meetings to promote student success.
• Provide crisis intervention, connect families with school and community resources, and maintain accurate case notes, service records, and required documentation.

• Master’s degree in Social Work, Counseling, or a related field
• Active Maryland Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) or Licensed Certified Social Worker–Clinical (LCSW-C) License
• Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE) School Social Worker Certification, including qualifying social work licensure (LMSW, LCSW, or LCSW-C) and required special education coursework
• School-based experience preferred, particularly supporting students with disabilities and diverse populations, and familiarity with community mental health resources and school-based interventions

• Competitive Pay:
