School Bus Driver

Frederick County Public Schools (FCPS) is hiring School Bus Drivers. Training is provided for those without a CDL. The role offers competitive pay starting at $25.28 per hour, plus benefits such as health, dental, vision, paid time off, tuition reimbursement, and flexible schedules suitable for college students, veterans, and others.

• Drive children safely to and from the schools on regular routes and school-sponsored field trips.
• Follow the route description as it is written.
• Maintain the discipline of the students.
• Submit required forms by the due date.
• Use and maintain a FCPS email account.
• Keep the bus clean, in good mechanical condition, and ensure preventive maintenance is performed.
• Attend all in-service training meetings as required.

• High School Diploma or Equivalent.
• Ability to read and write, as demonstrated by passing the FCPS pre‑service instructional training course under COMAR.
• No more than two (2) current points on driving record and a satisfactory past driving record, as determined by the Director of Transportation.
• At least 21 years of age.
• Five (5) years of driving experience, holding a valid driver's license during that time.
• Must meet all Motor Vehicle Licensing requirements for a CDL with a passenger endorsement.
• Pass the appropriate medical examination for school vehicle drivers as stated in COMAR.
• Receive a negative controlled substance test as required under COMAR.
• Pass medical examinations for school vehicle drivers prior to each anniversary date.
• Maintain a driving record in accordance with COMAR.
• Capable of lifting a minimum of 50 lbs.
• Capable of performing the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodations.
