• Bachelor's degree in accounting, business administration, finance, or a related field plus at least five years of progressive financial accounting experience, preferably with a municipality.
• Master's degree may be substituted for one year of municipal financial experience, or an equivalent combination of education, experience, and training may be substituted which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary.
• Experience and proficiency with Springbrook and Open Gov are preferred.
• Knowledge of general management principles, budgeting procedures, multi-funded financing operations and generally accepted accounting principles, especially related to governmental finances is necessary.
• Additional requirements include the ability to select, develop, organize, motivate, train, supervise and evaluate staff; prepare budgets and financial statements; gather, accurately compile, analyze, and evaluate a variety of data and make sound decisions regarding that data as it applies to providing services; recognize, evaluate, and respond adequately to a variety of financial issues faced by the city, and maintain effective working relationships with City officials, City staff, business owners, bankers, the general public, and various local, regional, state, and federal organizations.
