Performing Arts Roles/ Dance Instructor
Fredericksburg Field House is one of the region’s premier indoor sports and recreation centers, dedicated to promoting health, fitness, and fun for all ages. We are expanding our fitness and recreation programs and are seeking passionate Dance Instructors to lead high-energy, engaging, and creative classes for children, teens, and adults. The Fredericksburg Field House has a dedicated studio environment for classes.
The Dance Instructor will plan and lead structured dance classes that focus on proper technique, rhythm, coordination, and self-expression. Instructors should create an encouraging, positive, and inclusive environment where participants can build confidence, develop skills, and enjoy the art of movement.
Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesDesign and deliver dynamic dance classes in one or more styles (e.g., Hip Hop, Jazz, Ballet, Contemporary, Zumba®, Latin, or Creative Movement).
Teach proper form, choreography, and movement techniques appropriate for participants’ age and skill level.
Foster an inclusive and supportive class environment that emphasizes safety, creativity, and enjoyment.
Prepare music, choreography, and lesson plans prior to each class.
Provide feedback and encouragement to students to help them progress.
Manage class setup, cleanup, and attendance records.
Collaborate with the Fitness Manager or Program Coordinator to schedule classes, performances, and workshops.

Must be 18 years or older.
Demonstrated experience teaching dance (minimum 1 year preferred) or professional dance training.
CPR/AED certification (or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire).
Strong knowledge of music, choreography, and movement instruction.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to motivate and engage participants of all ages.
Must pass a background check as required by Virginia state employment standards.
Certification or training in specialized dance formats (e.g., Zumba®, Barre, or Ballet instruction).
Experience working with children, teens, and family-oriented programs.
Degree or coursework in Dance, Performing Arts, or Physical Education (preferred but not required).
Familiarity with fitness or recreation class scheduling.
