The Assistant Coach supports and advances the mission of FCS by providing leadership, supervision, and coaching instruction. Responsibilities may include supervising teams at various school levels. Reports directly to the Head Coach.

• Provide Christian leadership and coaching to all players
• Provide instruction in all phases of the game
• Work with FCS student-athletes to improve personal and teamwork skills
• Provide guidance and encouragement to help students profit from their participation
• Maintain compliance with Fredericksburg Christian School, VCAC and Virginia Independent School Athletic Association (VISAA) rules, regulations, and policies that pertain to athletic programs
• Promote the proper use and care of school property
• Communicate effectively with the team, staff, parents, administration, community, and the media
• Participate in athletic department fund-raisers
• Be knowledgeable of, monitor, and maintain compliance with applicable health and safety practices
• Maintain an acceptable attendance record and punctuality

• Committed Christian with a close personal walk with the Lord and the Christian character qualities to serve as a role model for young people
• Regular attendance at an evangelical, Protestant church
• Commitment to a Biblical lifestyle, not promoting or engaging in premarital, extramarital, transgender, or homosexual behavior
• If married, a solid commitment based on Mark 10:9 and a positive marital relationship
• Strong commitment to Christian education
• Previous head coaching experience at the high school or club level preferred
• Playing experience required (assistant coach experience preferred, not required)
• Effective communication skills, both orally and in writing
• Professionalism and contribution to a positive environment
• Knowledge of athletic program regulations
• Ability to manage individual, group, and organizational interactions
• Conflict resolution skills
• Self-control and perseverance when dealing with students
• CPR/AED certification or willingness to obtain shortly after hire
• Teachable, servant spirit
