High School Special Education (Collaborative Classrooms) Para educator - 26/27 SY
Spotsylvania County Public Schools is seeking student-focused, dedicated Paraeducators to assist teachers and other professional practitioners by providing instructional support in collaborative classrooms with students who have special needs (Learning Disabilities, Speech, Vision, Hearing and other Health Impairments) whose educational needs are not met by a general education environment.
Essential Job Functions- Assists students with the organization and completion of daily work assignments
- Assists with evaluating and testing students
- Works with small groups of students in various subject areas
- Follows established procedures for monitoring student behavior when supervising small or large groups
- Monitors students’ whereabouts and observes student safety
- Performs routine clerical duties such as copying, typing, answering/making telephone calls, and basic troubleshooting
- Performs additional non-instructional duties including, but not limited to, cafeteria duty, bus duty, hall duty, and office duty
- High School Diploma or GED
- A minimum of two (2) years working with children within an instructional, educational or related setting
Employment may be offered as a 10‑month (185 day) contract, at a minimum of 7.5 hours worked per day. This position is evaluated annually. Additional compensation is awarded for credits earned toward advanced degrees.
