Base pay range

$26.00/hr – $34.00/hr

Description

We are currently seeking an Environmental Construction Specialist to work on Electric Utility Construction Projects. This is a field position, and candidates must have experience with environmental compliance in relation to land clearing and linear construction projects. What You Will Do Regulatory Compliance
  • Provide Environmental Compliance and construction oversight on transmission site development and linear transmission line construction projects for electric transmission infrastructure.
  • Provide Environmental Oversight and compliance/inspections associated with transmission capital projects and the National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) and Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP).
  • Ensure compliance with laws and regulations for wetland access, protected species, wood and debris disposal, site control and soil disturbance.
  • Ensure that all field operations are in compliance with permits, including road use permits, Natural Resource Protection Act permits, Corp of Engineers permits, etc.
  • Document pre‑ and post‑work field conditions to make sure that sites are in compliance with permits and environmental regulations and no conditions require mitigation or restoration.
Field Operations
  • Perform all required erosion and sediment, stormwater management and pollution prevention inspections for applicable construction projects.
  • Interpret complex plans and drawings.
  • Perform duties in a manner that promotes and maintains good public relations.
Crew Oversight
  • Attend pre‑construction meetings, constructability meetings, and status meetings as directed.
  • Manage and oversee site development crews, providing oversight for sediment and erosion control or BMP contractors to ensure measures are installed as per the approved plan.
  • Observe that wetland & sensitive area identification are in place and that crews are aware before entering such areas.
Stakeholder & Public Relations
  • Monitor and report to Project Management on status of construction units estimated and actuals billed to date.
  • Communicate daily with the utility client, contractors, landowners, and the public.
Subject Matter Expert Consulting
  • Assist in developing recommendations on future R‑O‑W maintenance requirements.
Additional Responsibilities
  • Drive a company vehicle safely to work locations for the organization.
  • Assume other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
What You Need To Have
  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in environmental science, construction management, building science, or a related field.
  • 1‑5 years’ experience in site development work, permitting utility construction, environmental compliance, or a related field.
  • Solid understanding of the NPDES Construction General Permit (CGP) Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP) implementation and inspections.
  • Desire to work outdoors in various weather conditions and terrain.
  • Strong public relation skills/ability to interface with the public.
  • Willingness to work alone.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Valid driver’s license.
