Job Description & How to Apply Below

The Clinton Health Access Initiative, Inc. (CHAI) is a global health organization committed to saving lives and reducing the burden of disease in low‑and‑middle‑income countries. Founded in 2002 in response to the HIV/AIDS epidemic, CHAI works at the invitation of governments to support them and the private sector in building sustainable, high‑quality health systems. Over the past two decades, CHAI has expanded its focus to include COVID‑19, malaria, tuberculosis, hepatitis, cancer, diabetes, hypertension, and other non‑communicable diseases.

We accelerate life‑saving vaccine rollouts, reduce maternal and child mortality, combat chronic malnutrition, and increase access to assistive technology. Through horizontal approaches, we strengthen health systems worldwide by investing in human resources for health, digital health, and health financing, ensuring that programs are designed to scale nationally and share lessons globally. CHAI is deeply rooted in the countries it serves, with the majority of staff based in program countries.

CHAI is an Equal Opportunity Employer and is committed to providing an environment of fairness and mutual respect, where all applicants have equal employment opportunities.

Role Overview

CHAI is seeking a highly motivated Associate to support governments in sustaining essential HIV services amid shifting global health financing and declining donor resources. Working across more than eight countries, the Associate will help partner governments identify, prioritize, and scale evidence‑based approaches that maximize health impact and value for money. This includes strengthening national capacity for strategic planning, financial sustainability, and routine use of data for decision‑making.

The Associate will provide analytical and operational support across the HIV portfolio, including developing cost and impact models, conducting scenario analyses, synthesizing evidence into decision‑ready insights, and producing tools that guide strategic resource optimization. They will work closely with CHAI global and country teams to ensure financial, programmatic, and epidemiological data inform grant applications, including Global Fund Grant Cycle 8 (GC8), sustainability planning, and national HIV strategies.

A key component of the role is strengthening timely knowledge management, maintaining organized libraries of tools and resources, documenting lessons learned, and facilitating cross‑country learning. The Associate will also support efficient project coordination, including work planning, risk tracking, communication across teams, and execution of key activities. This role is well‑suited to a mission‑driven, detail‑oriented individual who enjoys solving complex problems and thrives in dynamic, multicultural environments.

Strong analytical abilities, excellent communication skills, and the ability to build collaborative relationships are essential.

While this position is advertised in the US, successful applicants will be required to be based in a CHAI program country in Africa pending leadership approval and valid work authorization.
