Vacancy Announcement RECREATION SUPERVISOR STARTING SALARY: $48,472 - $53,319 Position Overview:
The City of Fredericksburg is seeking a dedicated and experienced Recreation Supervisor to join our team. This position plays a crucial role in the planning, organizing, and implementation of recreational activities for Pre‑K, Youth, and Adults with a focus on Outdoor Recreation. This position will operate under the supervision of the Superintendent of Recreation. Work involves scheduling and training staff, enforcement of established rules and guidelines, purchasing supplies, as well as planning and leading community programming.
Key Responsibilities:- Create & implement high-quality community programs, camps, and classes.
- Preschool Programs:
Indoor Play Park, Arts & Crafts, Log Cabin Storytime, etc. - Youth Programs:
Camps, After‑school activities, birding hikes, etc. - Adult Programs:
Painting, Puzzlooza, Escape Room, etc. - Other programs and events as needed.
- Preschool Programs:
- Hire, support, train, and supervise program staff.
- Understand and utilize recreational management software for promotion and scheduling of programs.
- Support outdoor field trips, birthday parties, retreats, etc.
- Records and tracks expenses, attendance, and participant feedback.
- Work flexible hours, typically outside of those of direct supervision.
- Bachelor's Degree in Recreation, Leisure Services, Facility Management, Public Administration, Education, or a related field.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in professional recreation work, including programming and coordinating recreational activities.
- Preferred:
Professional certification through National Parks and Recreation Association.
