Job Summary

General Atomics Electromagnetic Systems (GA-EMS) designs and manufactures first‑of‑a‑kind electromagnetic and electric power generation systems. GA-EMS’ expanding portfolio of specialized products and integrated system solutions support critical fleet, space systems and satellites, missile defense, power and energy, and process and monitoring applications for defense, industrial, and commercial customers worldwide.

We have an exciting opportunity for a Material Control Coordinator to join our Electromagnetic Systems (GA-EMS) Group located in Fredericksburg, VA. Under general supervision with detailed instruction on new assignments, this position is responsible for performing manual and clerical duties involved in coordinating incoming materials through inspection, stockroom and production.

• Review and monitor inventory and work orders, ensuring traceability of material and/or parts.
• Coordinate with various departments to support material requirements.
• Monitor and restock inventory levels housed on the shop floor to maintain appropriate levels.
• Update daily movement of parts and provide information to personnel regarding back‑order of critical scheduled material.
• Deliver materials to designated production areas as required.
• Review material requisitions issued to the stockroom to ensure proper allocation.
• Conduct physical inventory counts, identifying, reporting, and investigating shortages, overages, or discrepancies on the shop floor.
• Examine items received, verifying conformity to quality clauses and receiving procedures.
• Transfer vendor shipper paperwork upon receipt of goods or after appropriate approval of parts, ensuring damages or excess goods are processed through quality assurance and/or materials supervisor.
• Maintain strict confidentiality of sensitive information.
• Observe all laws, regulations, and other applicable obligations in all business conduct on behalf of the Company.
• Work in a safe manner in accordance with established operating procedures and practices.
• Perform other duties as assigned or required.

• High school diploma or equivalent and two or more years of experience in production/material control.
• Good understanding of material control concepts and standards, with experience applying these using stockroom procedures and record‑keeping practices.
• Customer focused with the ability to identify deviations from normal processes, analyze issues, and interpret data.
• Power equipment and forklift experience desired.
• SAP experience is a plus.
• Good organization skills to maintain flow of work within the unit.
• Ability to respond to routine and non‑routine issues or situations.
• Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills to interface with internal employees and accurately document and report information.
• Knowledge of computer operations, applications, word processing, and spreadsheets.
