Under the supervision of the Area Transportation Coordinator, the school bus driver is responsible for the safe transportation of children to and from school and school related activities, such as field trips and athletic events.

• Operate the school bus safely, obeying traffic laws and safety regulations.
• Maintain and clean the bus, perform pre-trip inspections, and report deficiencies.
• Conduct emergency evacuation drills and report accidents.
• Notify about delays or cancellations.
• Keep accurate driving logs and contact Transportation Services for substitutes.
• Transport students, staff, and chaperones, enforcing conduct standards.
• Operate on designated routes, stops, and follow safety procedures at crossings.
• Support core values, engage in professional development, and maintain appearance and punctuality.
• Work harmoniously with colleagues, comply with policies, and perform other duties as assigned.

• High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent
• At least 18 years old
• Possession of or ability to obtain a Class B CDL with P and S endorsements and air brakes
• First Aid and CPR certifications (or ability to obtain)
• At least 2 years licensed driving experience in the U.S.
• Clean driving record with no recent serious violations
• No employment conflicts within 8 hours of driving

• Knowledge of safe bus operation, laws, and local roads
• Skills in following routes, detecting malfunctions, controlling students
• Abilities to complete training, assist students, work independently and in teams, meet deadlines, and demonstrate enthusiasm

• Primarily inside a bus environment with moderate noise and temperature extremes
• Moderate exertion, lifting up to 50 pounds
• Physical and mental abilities including prolonged sitting, operating vehicles, communication, and decision-making
