The Research and Productivity Council (RPC) is NB’s provincial research organization, a research & technology organization that provides analytical and applied research services. In business since 1962, we serve over 1000 clients annually from our locations in Fredericton and Moncton, New Brunswick.

We are recruiting to fill a position for an Accountant who will work out of our Fredericton location and report to the Accounting Manager.

POSITION

DESCRIPTION:

RPC have an immediate opening for an Accountant in our Fredericton Office. This is a full-time regular position. We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Staff Accountant to join our finance team. This role will support day-to-day accounting operations, with a strong focus on general accounting and payroll activities.

The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining accurate financial records, supporting financial reporting, and ensuring timely processing of transactions. This position offers an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience across a broad range of accounting functions while working closely with senior finance staff.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Perform day-to-day accounting activities, including recording journal entries and maintaining general ledger accounts.

Prepare and reconcile bank statements and other balance sheet accounts; investigate and resolve discrepancies.

Process bi-weekly payroll runs, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.

Ensure compliance with company policies, internal controls, and applicable accounting standards and regulations.

Assist account receivable function with receivable collections, including monitoring outstanding balances, following up on overdue accounts, and coordinating with clients to resolve payment issues.

REQUIREMENTS:

Degree or diploma in Accounting, Finance, or related field.

Experience with ERP systems (Business Central, Dynamics, SAP, etc.) would be an asset.

Payroll training would be an asset.

Understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting practices.

Excellent communication and documentation abilities.

Collaborative mindset with the ability to work across departments.
