Intermediate Mechanical Engineer – Energy

This position is part of WSP’s Energy (ERI) sector, delivering solutions that power Canada’s energy transition. The role will support clients across a range of power plant technologies—including biomass, geothermal, hydrogen, renewable natural gas, fossil fuel, carbon capture, battery energy storage, and hydro—to create resilient, low‑carbon infrastructure.

• Design mechanical piping and equipment for power generation facilities.
• Prepare mechanical equipment and packaged equipment specifications, data sheets, RFQs, and technical bid evaluations.
• Review mechanical equipment vendor drawings and data.
• Interface with suppliers, clients, other engineering disciplines, and detailers/designers.
• Ensure effective communication with other engineering disciplines.
• Prepare construction/installation scopes of work for mechanical systems.
• Participate in the development of PFDs and P&IDs.
• Perform piping design activities, including sizing, pressure‑drop calculations, stress analysis, and pipe support design.
• Mentor and guide less experienced engineers.

• University Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering.
• Between 6 to 10 years of mechanical engineering design experience within an EPCM environment, focused on Power Generation projects (required).
• Currently licensed professional engineer (P.Eng, Ing, PE) in your province of practice.
• Experience with in the consulting environment desired.
• Working knowledge of Micro Station or AutoCAD.
• Working knowledge of Smart Plant 3D or CADworx.
• Experience using Caesar II or Auto Pipe.
• Experience using Thermoflow.

• NB, NL, NS, PEI & QC: $60,900–$83,800.
